A line of strong thunderstorms extends from the Northern Neck all the way down to the North Carolina state line near Emporia. This whole line is racing to the east, so we are almost done with the severe weather this evening. I don't expect any redevelopment behind the line, so you can rest easy tonight!

New Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued
A new Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for the eastern half of VA and is in effect until 1 AM tonight. The main threat from these storms will be damaging winds.

Over the past couple hours, a few thunderstorms have popped up and then quickly fizzled. This trend will continue for the next few hours, then the chances for rain will quickly diminish after sunset.
