Cold Front Sweeping Through

The surface low associated with the potent, fast-moving upper system that brought Central Virginia a dusting of snowfall overnight is sweeping rapidly northeast Friday morning. The surface cold front is also following suit, moving quickly through Central Virginia this morning with gusty northwest winds behind it. This front will usher in much colder temperatures that will stay with us all weekend in the region.

Weather Update 6AM

Light snow continues to exit to the east early this Friday morning. As a result, the Winter Weather Advisories have been allowed to expire early for most of the state. Only parts of the Northern Neck remain in the advisory until 8 a.m., where light snow is still falling at this time.

Light Snowfall Ending

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for far eastern Virginia this morning, where light snowfall is still falling at 5 a.m. The overnight snow left accumulations of less than an inch in Central Virginia, with most places receiving only a dusting. Roads this morning are wet in most places, but not snow-covered, as ground temperatures remained just above freezing most of the overnight period.
