Tropics Update - 2:30 PM Sunday

Tropical Depression 6 should still strengthen over the next 12 hours and eventually become Danielle (probably a hurricane by Wednesday or Thursday). The data is very consistent with a northwest track through Friday, afterwards, there is a lot of uncertainty. We'll keep you posted.

Tropical Depression #6

We've been watching this area for the past three days and now it looks like a tropical depression has finally formed (you can spot the circulation on satellite loops). More than likely this will become Danielle as it tracks to the NW over the next several days. We will continue to bring you more updates in the coming days.

Dense Fog Friday Morning

Dense Fog Advisories are in effect for western parts of Virginia along the Piedmont and into the mountains. This is where dense fog is reducing visibilities to a quarter mile or less. Elsewhere in central Virginia, patchy fog has also developed with some visibilities below a mile to a half-mile. This morning's fog is developing in response to clearing skies, light to calm winds, and ample moisture in and near the ground after several days of rain. Fog will dissipate mid-morning in the region.
