Tropical Update

Tropical Depression Two continues to become slightly better-organized and slightly stronger Wednesday with maximum sustained winds now at 35mph. The area of convection is moving west at only 13 mph through the open Atlantic, still days away from any landfall. Two is expected to slowly strengthen, and may become Tropical Storm Ana, the first named cyclone of the 2009 Atlantic Hurricane Season, in the next day or so.

We are entering the most active part of the Atlantic Hurricane season over the next couple of months. The season typically peaks around September 10.
