Tropics Update: Friday Noon

Tropical Storm Colin will bring tropical storm force winds (39mph sustained or stronger) to Bermuda well east of the U.S. mainland in the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday. Winds may be up to 60 mph as Colin tracks just west of Bermuda tomorrow. As of Noon Friday, maximum sustained winds in Colin are at 45 mph with gusts to 60 mph.
The storm should curve northeast and accelerate into the north Atlantic early next week, losing its tropical characteristics.
Farther southeast in the Atlantic is a currently disorganized disturbance, which has a decent chance of becoming a Tropical Storm in the next several days. Data that goes into next week indicates this system might even reach hurricane strength. However, the path around the high pressure over the central Atlantic would keep that storm way out to sea, this one potentially passing to the east of Bermuda.
