7AM Friday Update
Snow continues to move into southwest Virginia early this Friday morning, but has not expanded into central Virginia yet. Danville has picked up an inch of snow so far. The snow is expected to move into the area by late morning, and continue to be snow through the afternoon. This evening, sleet will mix in with the snow in a swath from the Middle Peninsula through Richmond to Farmville. A changeover back to all snow will occur before sunrise Saturday in that region, with that snow line headed southeast through the rest of the state Saturday morning. 1" to 3" of snow is possible south of Petersburg and Hampton Roads, 3" to 6" north of these locations through Farmville and into south Richmond, with 6" to 12" in Richmond, and north of Ashland totals in excess of a foot. North-central and northwestern Virginia will pick up 12"-18".
