Tropics Update Sunday 8/15

The remnants of TD 5 look impressive on satellite imagery this afternoon. I'm still expecting the core of this low to briefly drift over the water in the next couple days. This means it could intensify into a depression or tropical storm depending on how long it remains over water. In addition, latest data has the remnants getting absorbed into the upper level flow and hurled in our general direction next weekend. A lot can happen between then and now, so I would encourage you to keep an eye on the forecast throughout the week. We'll keep you updated!

Could TD #5 Redevelop?

The remnants of Tropical Depression 5 have been drifting around the Deep South over the past couple days. The core of this system should continue to move back into the northern Gulf of Mexico late today and into tomorrow. If this occurs, it could easily become a depression or Tropical Storm. We'll keep an eye on it and and bring you more updates in the coming days!
