A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect through 8 p.m. for Central, South-central, and Southeastern Virginia (all counties highlighted in pink from the National Weather Service). Thunderstorms are expected to develop and intensify this afternoon, and be capable of producing damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rain that can lead to flash flooding.
