Severe Thunderstorm Watch Thru 9PM

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 9 p.m. for southeast Virginia. This watch extends through the eastern Carolinas into southeast Georgia as well, as storms are initially developing along a cool front draped across this region. This is the same front that moved through Virginia overnight into Wednesday morning and brought us relief from the 90-degree heat we've experienced the last several days. Storms will expand up into the watch area in Virginia through this afternoon and evening, bringing the threats for damaging winds and large hail. Heavy rain is also possible out of the thunderstorms, which would be welcome in much of our region.
