A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 6 p.m. for much of central Virginia, where strong to severe storms are possible through the afternoon. Storms that form will be capable of quarter-size hail, damaging wind gusts to 70 mph, and nearly constant lightning, as well as torrential downpours.
